A Game of Chance: The Art of Blockade Running at Museum of Coastal Carolina

On Dec. 6 at 11:00, guest speaker Grover Godwin will discuss the art of blockade running and the contribution that blockade runners made to the Confederate cause during the Civil War. He will also discuss the role of coastal forts from Wilmington to Charleston and the role of the Union fleet.Grover Godwin

Grover Godwin received a B.S. in history from UNC Chapel Hill. He has made a life-long study of the Civil War and owns an extensive personal collection of books and videos on the subject.  Godwin has been a Civil War re-enactor since 1982 and is a 1st Lt. with the Charlotte Artillery. He is a trained docent at the N.C. Museum of History.

The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located at 21 East Second Street in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Admission is free for members. Non-member all-day admission, including admission to Mr. Godwin’s presentation, is $8 for adults (13-61), $7 for seniors (62+), $6 for children (3-12), and free for ages 2 and under.
