Brookgreen Gardens’ “Nights of a Thousand Candles” Highlights Busy December

Brookgreen Gardens’ spectacular “Nights of a Thousand Candles” program, which attract guests from across the United States, will highlight an eventful month along Georgetown (S.C.) County’s Hammock Coast.

Nights of a Thousand Candles, which has grown into one of the most popular holiday events in the Southeast, will be held Dec. 3-5, Dec. 10-12, Dec. 17-19.

Brookgreen Gardens come to life amid the soft glow of more than 5,500 hand-lit candles and countless sparkling lights from 3 – 10 p.m. Walk the paths with a warm cup of cider, hear the sounds of hand bells ringing, carolers singing, and celebrate the season with family and friends each night of the event.

Nights of a Thousand Candles also delights guests with beautiful candle and lighting displays and exceptional entertainment. The 80-foot-tall Holiday Fir tree, decorated with 60,000 lights, will be lighted in ceremonial fashion at 5:45 p.m. every night.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for children ages 4-12. More information is available at www.Brookgreen.org.

Nights of a Thousand Candles is hardly the only holiday themed event along the Hammock Coast. The Kaminski House Museum will deck all the halls during its Very Fashionable Christmas. Local designers dress the museum in holiday decor ranging from traditional Christmas decorations to seasonal glitz and glamour.

A Very Fashionable Christmas will feature candlelight tours on Thursday evenings on Dec. 3, 10 and 17. The evening tours are from 5 – 7 p.m. The cost is $5.00 for adults, youth $3.00 and children under the age of 10 are admitted free of charge. Call 843-546-7706 for more details.

The Murrell Inlet Christmas Parade, which features a weekend full of activities, will takes place December 3-6.
