“While Auctions America is best known for its multi-day sales, we’re focusing on a smaller, more elite group of automobiles for our final auction of the year,” says Megan Boyd, Car Specialist, Auctions America. “The select offering of cars has been hand-picked by our team of specialists to complement the diversity and heritage that is showcased by the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance and we are looking forward to celebrating the hobby in one of America’s most scenic locations.”

The docket for the Halloween auction runs the gamut of automotive production, from quintessential American classics through to superb European sports and GT cars. The auction will also feature an exciting series of poster cars from the 1970s and 80s, as well as modern collectibles to cater to growing collector interest in these segments.

ICONIC POSTER CARS

Poster cars from the 1970s and 80s have been trending in recent months, as those who adorned their bedroom walls with pictures of these cars during their youth are now in the financial position to realize their dreams. When it comes to poster cars of the 1980s in particular, there is perhaps nothing more iconic than the Lamborghini Countach. Designed as a successor to the Lamborghini Miura, the Countach turned the automotive world completely upside down when it was unveiled at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show. In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Lamborghini released an updated and slightly restyled version of its celebrated Countach, which went on to become the most desirable iteration of the car in the eyes of many. The Hilton Head Island auction will present an exceptionally original example of this model, a1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition. Finished in highly desirable white with a black leather interior, the vehicle on offer was delivered new to the United States. Presented in remarkably well-preserved and maintained condition, it shows just 10,900 km from new and is expected to garner strong interest from collectors when it crosses the auction block (Est. $340,000 – $380,000).

Other notable poster cars slated for the sale include:

  • an attractive 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, striking in Silver over Red and fitted with desirable Daytona style seats and fender flares, which were added after the car left Maranello (Est, $290,000 – $330,000);
  • a stunning, black on black 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB, a fantastic example of a first-year 308 and one of the last great carbureted Ferraris, showing just 2700 miles (Est. $100,000 – $125,000); and
  • an instantly recognizable 1982 DeLorean DMC-12; best identified by its appearance in “Back to the Future”, the DeLorean is known for its distinctive gullwing doors and iconic stainless steel body. The example on offer is presented in largely original condition (Est. $25,000 – $30,000).

MODERN PERFORMANCE

For those with a penchant for recent design and performance, Auctions America’s Hilton Head Island event also features a number of modern collectibles. Among standout lots are an ‘as new’ 2002 BMW Z8 Roadster, one of the lowest mileage examples in existence with a mere 543 miles (Est. $280,000 – $320,000); and, a well-documented 2002 Porsche 911 GT2 Coupe, built with a 3.6 liter turbocharged engine, capable of propelling the car to a blisteringly fast 198 mph (Est. $140,000 – $160,000).

Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship Welcomes John Daly Cocktail as Official Drink of the 32nd Annual Event

Two-Time Major Champion John Daly to Appear at World’s Largest 19th Hole

Two-time major champion John Daly and his namesake cocktail will be appearing at the Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship. The 32nd annual event will be played August 31 through September 4 and is again expected to attract 3,400 golfers from 30+ countries.

Daly will be at the World’s Largest 19th Hole following the tournament’s third and fourth rounds. He will be serving participants his signature John Daly Cocktail and playing music at World Am Live, performing alongside Stephen Kellogg, the official band of GIASI Beverage Company, the distributor of the John Daly. Daly will also broadcast his one hour Sirius/XM radio show, “Hit it Hard with John Daly” from the World Am.

The World’s Largest 19th Hole is held each night at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, where tournament participants gather to enjoy golf’s greatest party. The 19th Hole features free food and drinks, live entertainment – including former American Idol winner Taylor Hicks this year – a 60+ exhibitor golf expo and much more.

“This is a great opportunity for me to embrace the true core customer of my brand,” said John. “These people come to play golf all day and have a great time at night in a place that I love – Myrtle Beach.”

“We are delighted to welcome the John Daly Cocktail as the official drink of the Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship, and equally excited to have John joining us at this year’s event,” said Jeff Monday, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday’s tournament director. “John remains one of golf’s most popular players and tournament participants will enjoy the opportunity to meet a two-time major champion.”

The John Daly Cocktail, which comes in three signature flavors, will be the official cocktail of the World’s Largest 19th Hole, giving golfers the chance to “Grip it and Sip it,” each night of the tournament. The three flavors are Sweet Tea & Lemonade Vodka, Peach Tea & Lemonade Vodka and Raspberry Tea and Lemonade Vodka.

The John Daly Sweet Tea & Lemonade has the classic taste of Southern Special sweet tea and the refreshing kick of fresh squeezed Meyer lemonade mixed in perfect harmony with a splash, or two, of silky smooth handcrafted, five times distilled vodka.

The John Daly Peach Tea & Lemonade is just a cut nine iron from the original with a hint of natural peach flavor. You’ll think we’ve pillaged the trees of Georgia with this tasty libation. No matter the season… no matter the time of year… no matter if the famous Azaleas of Augusta are in bloom or not.

The John Daly Raspberry Tea & Lemonade is another fluffy cut from the original, fading in a hint of Raspberry essence for a taste unlike any other.

Daly will join television personalities Charlie Rymer and Win McMurry and the Katrek and Maginnes On Tap radio show, which will be broadcast live from the main stage on Sirius/XM radio, as headliners at the 32nd annual World Am.

Daly will join Annika Sorenstam, David Feherty, NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon and Major League Baseball great Roger Clemens, who played in the event three times, among the big names who have been to the World Am.

The 72-hole net stroke play tournament relies on the game’s most rigorously enforced handicap system to level the field for every man and woman that plays in the event.

If you are not already on our schedule or in an ongoing contractual arrangement, speak up before the new calendar is filled. If we already have a personal working relationship, you know you can call or email anytime and expect quick response. If you don’t have personal contact information, complete either of the contact forms on this page. It’s completely confidential too, and we will respond as appropriate.

If you received some free consulting, marketing, photography, editing, writing or other assistance from us in 2014, it’s been delivered with a smile, but now it’s going out with the trash. If you plan to follow up in 2015, let us know now or your stuff will be unavailable.
