Fourth Annual Chris Wilcox Charity Golf Outing

Chris Wilcox, of the NBA Boston Celtics is teaming up with the Myrtle Beach National Golf Club on Friday, August 3, for the Fourth Annual Chris Wilcox Charity Golf Outing benefiting the Lupus Foundation of America.

Wilcox grew up in Whiteville, North Carolina and has witnessed first-hand the devastation caused by lupus. Two of his aunts passed away from complications with the disease and his older sister Tehesia currently suffers from it.

Lupus is a debilitating disease that hampers and attacks the immune system.  It affects more than 1.5 million Americans and over 5 million people worldwide; approximately nine of every ten cases of lupus affect females of child-bearing age. There is no cure or known cause.

The Power Forward to Cure Lupus Golf Outing welcomes individual golfers to register for $100. Foursomes can register for $300.

Registration starts at 8:00 a.m.  Shotgun Scramble begins at 10:00 a.m. at  Myrtle Beach National Golf Club, 4900 National Drive Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.

Chris Wilcox is well known from his career with the NBA Boston Celtics and 2002 University of Maryland National Champions.   Wilcox’s 2012 NBA season was cut short when he had heart surgery to repair an enlarged aorta.  He was just cleared by doctors to resume training and hopes to return for the 2012-2013 season.
