The Impact of Pesticides on the Atlantic Sand Fiddler

West Brunswick student, Russ Gore, will  present “The Impact of Pesticides on the Atlantic Sand Fiddler”  Oct. 14, 2017 at 11:00 am as a part of his high school senior project. Russ designed a field study on the effects of commonly used pesticides on Atlantic Sand Fiddlers. Because sand fiddlers are arthropods like many pests, his experimental results show a detrimental effect of the test group. Knowing fiddlers are a crucial component of the marsh ecosystem, Russ wishes to make a community outreach on safe pesticide practices with his slogan “Control, Comply, & Customize.”

Russ is president of the National Honor Society, captain of the football team, and a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. At West Brunswick, Russ states math and science are two of his favorite classes and hopes to pursue a career in those areas of study.
