Myrtle Beach, SC mystery author Troy D. Nooe is scheduled to speak at Sunset River Marketplace as part of the Calabash, NC gallery’s Coffee With the Authors lecture series, owner Ginny Lassiter has announced. The event, which runs from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, is free to the public.  However, due to limited seating, reservations are required. Call the gallery at 910.575.5999 to hold your spot.

Nooe will be discussing  “Long-Legged Rosie,” third in his series of Frankie McKellor  murder mysteries set in 1950’s Myrtle Beach. Nooe’s hero, Baltimore gumshoe Frank McKellor, has now relocated to the beach as head of security for the infamous Ocean Forest Hotel. He meets up with former lady friend Rosie, and the trouble begins.

Originally from Baltimore himself, Nooe has lived in the Grand Strand area for close to 20 years. The father of three is a former paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He is the author of “The Ocean Forest,” which was a top five finalist for a national Shamus Award, and “Damn Yankee,” the second in Nooe’s Frankie McKellor murder mysteries.

After Nooe’s presentation, the gallery’s lecture series is on hiatus until Sept. 8 when the schedule picks up with Jen Purcell, author of “The Nurse Whisperer” and “The Dirty Mermaid.” On the evening of Oct. 13, the gallery will hold a launch party for Dr. Debra Reble’s new book, “Being Love.”  The Nov. 10 presentation will be made by Jane Dill, author of “Flora’s Wreath,” and Eleanor Selph, author of “Hamburger & Milkshake: Amazing Journey of a Southern Belle,” will speak on Dec. 8.

Sunset River Marketplace showcases work by approximately 150 North and South Carolina artists, and houses some 10,000 square feet of art work in virtually every genre.
