Pi Day Celebration at Ingram Planetarium

Celebrate Pi Day a few days early at Ingram Planetarium on March 12 from 11:30 to 3:00. Enjoy half-price Sky Theater shows all day long and free hands-on math experiments in the Paul Dennis Science Hall. Have fun with numbers and create your own math mementos to take home with you.

Scratching your head trying to remember what the heck Pi is? Here’s a quick refresher: A mathematical constant that is often shortened to 3.14, Pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Pi is always the same number, no matter which circle you use. Pi is an infinite decimal, meaning that there is no limit to the numbers that appear to the right of the decimal point. And, even more amazing, the numbers to the right of the decimal point never repeat in a pattern. To see one million digits of Pi, go to http://www.piday.org/million.
