Freestyle Music Park in Myrtle Beach closed its doors and shut down all rides in the spring of 2010 and has no plans to open for the 2010 season. The park, which opened in 2008 as Hard Rock Music Park, was burdened by the debt it inherited from the previous owners. Coupled with the lack of investors interested in the project due to the economic times, that doomed the amusement park.
The sad abandoned roller coaster remains in the remnants of a once-successful Fantasy Harbor area.
We regret that our Myrtle Beach book had gone to press during the time Freestyle had a definite plan for a seasonal opening. Who knew? We would never have reviewed anything that was even in question.
