“Stars at Sunset” September 9 at Ingram Planetarium

“Stars at Sunset” will return at 7 pm on September 9 after its summer hiatus. This popular monthly series showcases the stars, constellations, and other celestial events that will be visible in the night sky above the Carolinas each month. In addition to a live tour of the night sky, Ingram Planetarium Manager Will Snyder will also explore various topics ranging from the earliest history of astronomy to the latest advancements in the field.

The September 9 program will highlight the best cosmic views of the month while bringing you up-to-date on popular summer constellations that have been gracing the evening sky including Scorpius the Scorpion and Sagittarius the Archer. This month’s program will also feature an update on the Juno spacecraft that arrived at Jupiter this July.

Following “Stars at Sunset,” stick around on September 9 for a StarWatch telescope observation session at 8 pm. Trained staff will be available to assist you in operating a variety of telescopes and to help you find your way in the sky. Outdoor observing is weather permitting, so call Ingram Planetarium at 910-575-0033 on the day of the event to ensure StarWatch will take place.

Future installments of “Stars at Sunset” will occur the first Friday of every month; dates of the upcoming presentations are October 7, November 4, and December 2. All programs begin at 7 pm.

Ingram Planetarium is located at 7625 High Market Street in Sunset Beach, NC. Admission is free for members.
