“What’s in the Water?” at the Museum of Coastal Carolina on Apr. 1
This is no April Fool’s Joke! On April 1 at 11:00 the Museum of Coastal Carolina presents a program called “What’s in the Water?”
Water is life! With about 70% of the earth’s cover being water, it undeniably becomes one of our greatest resources. A close inspection of our waters will show it is being contaminated by man-made waste. Water is an easy solvent, enabling most pollutants to dissolve in it easily and contaminate it.
Learn how water pollution effects the organisms and vegetation that live in or near water. On a human level, we all depend on clean water to survive. In this eye-opening and fascinating presentation, we will discuss how pollutants including plastic, burning of fossil fuels, industrial waste, and fertilizers affect the inhabitants of oceans, salt marshes, and life on planet earth.
The program will be presented by Dr. Richard Hilderman, a retired biochemist of Clemson University. He currently lives in Sunset Beach, NC and is a passionate environmentalist. He has shared his extensive knowledge over the years with the museum membership and guests of all ages.
The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located at 21 East Second Street, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. The museum is open from 10-3 on Friday and Saturday. Admission to the museum is free for museum and dual museum/planetarium members. Non-member all-day admission (including NC sales tax) is $9.50 for adults, $8.50 for seniors, $7.50 for children (3-12), and free for age 2 and under.
