The Museum of Coastal Carolina presents a program devoted to owls called “Who Gives a Hoot?” at 11 am on Mar. 12, 2016. Owls are known for their upright stance, broad head, sharp talons, and binocular sight. They are fearsome nocturnal birds of prey; most owls are capable of silent flight and swoop down on their prey quickly and efficiently. Owls often swallow their prey whole and then regurgitate the indigestible parts in the form of pellets. During the museum’s program, families will have an opportunity to dissect a sterilized owl pellet and identify the skeletal remains of the owl’s meal. This is a wonderful way to learn about the dietary habits of these magnificent birds.
The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located at 21 East Second Street, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. The museum is open on Friday and Saturday from 10 to 3. Admission to the museum is free for Museum members. Non-member all-day admission (including NC sales tax) is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors, $7 for children (3-12), and free for age 2 and under.
