The Freedom Boat Club and Team Freedom proudly announce they will once again present its signature charity event, Bras-Across-the-Water. The event will be at the Harbourgate Marina in North Myrtle Beach from Noon until 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 5, 2013.
During September, Team Freedom will be collecting “Bras and Dollars” from the community. Corporate and individual sponsors are being solicited to pledge money for each bra collected. The boat club itself is pledging to match $1.00 for each bra collected up to $1,000.00. Team Freedom is the community outreach arm of the boat club, sponsoring various community, social and charitable events throughout the year for the club’s members and the community at large.
This whimsical and fun event is designed to raise awareness of breast cancer and to raise funds for the American Cancer Society in support of breast cancer research. The actual event consists of a carnival-type gathering on the docks in and around the Harbourgate Marina with live radio and local TV broadcasts; live band; Bar-B-Que Cook-Off Contest; local vendors; breast cancer information booths; Chinese auction; games, raffles.
The bras which are collected are all attached to a rope in a Chain-of-Hope. The highlight of the event occurs when the collection of bras are literally Strung Across the Water!
