East Coast Surfing

The Museum of Coastal Carolina is proud to present Surfing, presented by Jessie McCrery on Tuesday, August 7 at 6 p.m. in the Hayden O’Neal Learning Center  at the Museum of Coastal Carolina.

He will be discussing the surfing sport on the east coast and how it differs from other parts of the world.  Included in this lively discussion will be topics like surfboard design, storm surf and the general ins and outs of surfing.

Jessie McCrery has been surfing since he was nine years old and was the Eastern Surfing Association regional director for southern North Carolina for 12 years.  He has been shaping surfboards for 18 years, and in 2012 turned his passion for surfing into his business by opening OIB Surf & Java.

The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located at 21 East Second Street, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Admission to the museum is free for members. Non-member all-day admission is $9.50 for adults, $8.50 for seniors, $7.50 for children (3-12), and free for age 2 and under. A 7-day summer vacation pass is just $75 for two adults and up to four children. Admission is free for active duty military and disabled veterans plus one guest; must include military ID cardholder.
