Ingram Planetarium Launches New Projector System in Its Full Dome Theater

Ingram Planetarium caps off an exciting year of upgrades and renovations to the full-dome theater  with the installation of a smaller, more efficient laser phosphor projector. This projector will not only bring higher quality performance to the dome theater, it will also free up more time and resources for programming and production as the maintenance demands will be less. In January, Ingram Planetarium received major improvements to the dome theater’s technology including state of the art, fully programmable, LED cove lighting that has been positively received by all of the Planetarium’s nearly 19,000 visitors, especially those that attend the laser music shows where live lighting has added layers of visual flair.

The new projector is scheduled to perform its maiden voyage into virtual space the weekend of March 2nd and 3rd, with a formal launch to the public on March 9th at Ingram Planetarium’s monthly Stars at Sunset program. It is encouraged that visitors call on March 2nd and 3rd or visit the planetarium’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/IngramPlanetarium/, to ensure shows are performing as scheduled after the installation of the new equipment.

Stars at Sunset show starts at 4pm immediately after our regularly scheduled shows and will end at 5pm. For safety, no late admittance is permitted. Admission per show is 9.50 for adults, 8.50 for seniors 62+, and 7.50 for children 12 and under.

Ingram Planetarium is located at 7625 High Market Street in Sunset Beach, NC. For more information, call 910-575-0033, visit www.museumplanetarium.org, or like us on Facebook.com/IngramPlanetarium.
