Turtle Talk at Museum of Coastal Carolina

Emily Read will be hosting “Turtle Talk”, a lecture all about sea turtles and sea turtle hospitals. The event is May 4 at the Museum of Coastal Carolina at 11 a.m.

Join us as Read covers various topics throughout her lecture such as; various species of sea turtles, their biology/life cycles, hatching/nest building, and nest monitoring.

As a volunteer of the OIBSTPO (Ocean Isle Beach Sea Turtle Protection Organization), Read engages in an effort to help as many adolescent sea turtles, as possible, survive. Read’s love and drive to protect and help animals led her to obtain a degree in Veterinary Medicine.

Read joined OIBSTPO after observing her very first Loggerhead sea turtle nest hatch back in 2015, and has been doing her best to spread sea turtle awareness as well as conservation tips. It was Read’s passion for science, learning, and helping that motivated her to eventually obtain a Master’s Degree in Biology.
